FCDHV Announces Second Edition

The annual event arises from the need to expand cultural alternatives from a socially aware perspective.

April 20, 2021 - Vieques, Puerto Rico: The second edition of the Vieques Film and Human Rights Festival (FCDHV, in its Spanish acronym) will take place from December 1st to the 5th, 2021. The theme of the festival will center on processes of a just recovery, which is defined as the right of individuals and communities to hold accountable recovery plans attempting to address their needs, wants, and basic human rights.

This festival aims to deepen and provide visibility for the most urgent problems in our society. It also serves as a vehicle to find, through the arts, new spaces of empowerment, as well as the search for tools of individual and collective transformation within our communities.

The deadline for submissions will be July 31st, 2021. Applications will be open for national and international works of any genre, such as documentary or fiction, experimental, animation, video clips, works in progress, and new audiovisual formats referring to social and environmental issues that promote, in original ways, respect for human rights in the broadest sense. The non-competitive sections of the Festival will be for projects that focus on Childhood and Youth, as well as Memory.

Additional information on submission requirements is available on the official website: www.fcdhv.com/convocatoria

Works that historicize different crisis periods, but also show the resilience of our communities in the face of disasters, are especially desired. We seek to generate the greatest possible impact to the claims of civil society regarding this issue, through awareness-raising artistic activities and constructive discussions alongside national and international personalities, universities, social organizations, communicators, artists, musicians, and filmmakers.
